Demo network: simulated facilities and wait times.
Triage

Busy Saturday simulated network

300 simulated people with minor, non-emergency injuries need care between noon and 4 PM, on top of each facility's usual simulated arrivals. The same afternoon is played twice with the same people, injuries, home locations and other arrivals. Only where the 300 go is different.

Urgent-care capacity

How to read this

  • Everything on this page is simulated. The facilities, lines and people are invented for the demo; the numbers are not measurements or predictions for any real place.
  • Random seed , fixed, so the result is the same on every run. The settings were fixed before the comparison was run, and all three capacity scenarios are shown whatever they show. The seed is the one of 50 whose results sit closest to the middle of all 50; the first seed tried gave an unusually light afternoon and was replaced.
  • Triage side: each person, in arrival order, takes the first place in the app's own ranking (drive + median simulated wait among places that treat that injury and age), worked out from the lines at that minute, including earlier people still on their way. It knows nothing about later arrivals.
  • Wait = arriving at the facility until treatment starts. Time to treatment = approx. drive + wait.
  • Average ER wait covers everyone at an ER who is not an emergency: any of the 300 who went there and the ERs' other minor patients arriving noon to 4 PM. Emergencies always go first.
  • "Other patients at clinics" are not the 300: they are the usual arrivals at urgent cares, ortho walk-ins and kids' urgent cares, whose lines get longer when people are routed there.
  • Lines start empty at midnight and fill from the simulated usual arrivals until noon.
  • Nobody gives up and leaves a line. A clinic keeps treating the people already in its line after closing time; the app's wait estimate assumes the same.
  • Everyone on the Triage side takes the first place it lists.
